to see that things were tight etc. etc. I over- slept this morning
(woke up at 8:10) but wasn't very late to breakfast. The lake was
perfectly calm and the air very clear. We all spent most of the day
under the trees, tho' Hilda & I went
over & and visited a House Boat (the Robbins of
Pittsburgh) and chased geese and took a walk to the
washwoman's with
Mr. Dymond
(He recited "N for
Nannie and B for Ben" to me going over and back.) We made a
play of the plot, coming.
Maude & I went bathing in the middle
of the afternoon (when there were big breakers) and she and I had
quite a long call from Flavie and
"Zip" True
after the other girls had gone up to dress. Between times we read,
sewed, wrote, whittled cig. holders, &c &c also loafed.
After supper Edith & Ned rowed us over to the post office and I
got a letter from Gilmore. Then we
rowed to "Fish Island" where we found the
Dymonds & Ponds & the
Lindsays
came and we made a big glorious bon fire on top. We lay on a
ridge of rocks overlooking all the lake. My head in Mary's
lap (she fondled me, too)
Ned's in mine
