Edith rowed. The sky was beautiful & the clouds; and the breeze was fresh & the water blue & I did enjoy it. The steamer passed us twice. After awhile we got to the Store where I treated to ice-cream (in honor of the birthday) Edith to birch beer - & we had olives & flags to buy and mail to get and so on. Mary & I rowed back - a rough passage. We were wet when we reached Mt. Julian - & late to supper but oh! so hungry & I did eat. The girls said more than they, but I doubt it. Miss Dymond - ("Allan's"

sister) had arrived and after supper we sat on the steps & talked. I told them about it. We were all very hilarious - as we'd been all day. When we adjourned to the pier & lay 6 in a row on the edge, with Mr.
& Miss D. behind as chaperones. Mr. D.
presented Ned with a cigarette holder for a birthday present & us with cigarettes & we smoked & smoked & the skeeters kept away. We sang a little & ate raisins between times & talked
