about his wife - & how he loved her & about the day & night of his engagement "the happiest day of his life" - and about his friend's "happiest day" & he said he'd been watching me tonight (at supper) and the prophesied a happiness for me - soon - and when we got out from under the stars at half past ten he wouldn't let me or "advised me not" to go & get the girls with him, but told me to "go to my room" & then tell him if his phophecy wasn't true. Well - It was that Mary (fickle minx - but still beloved) had come on the sunbeam - & was quietly resting in Edith's bed! July 20. Tuesday A lovely morning - cooler & calmer. Sat on the porch after a breakfast a little while & talked & read & then Ned, Edith, Mary, & Mr. D

rowed me over & rowed Helen back. It was hot sun but the breeze was cool. We had quite a climb up rugged giant steps of rocks - & stopped often for blue berries. On top I tried to take a picture of a bit toward the store of the magnificent view.
