366DECEMBER 23 Fri 1910 Our nice winter snow turning to wind for Christmas. Claude got gold pieces &c. for Xmas. Tappan went to Boston. Gurdon called tonight. Aunt Mio very low. Marguerite was over early. Read Henry's "Arabian Knights". Claude's "Episodes
" out yesterday.
Sat 1911 Cloudy morning. Letitia went to town with some of the ladies. I stayed with the children & got a cable gram from Claude "Stay another week" - The dear. In the after- noon we drove again to see about the ticket and to Gibbs Light house - a mag- nificent view of purple ocean - harbor, sky, sea & islands. Met a great deal of Christmas Festivity coming back - lovely shore drive - prettiest yet in some ways. Mon 1912 The boys in the office are doing their shopping now - (The last minute of course!) I finished things up - waiting parcels, &c. Tomorrow night I go to Claude's to help fill the stockings & trim the tree. Tues 1913 A dark "Soggy" day. Tonight Jim came around in the Ford& we went all over town delivering my presents. It was great fun (& the "cats" were heavy) Home by 9:30. Wed 1914 Fine winter day. Not much doing in office. Lunched with Marguerite and then went home to get some bundles & at night went to C.U. 's with hers & to dinner (she has such a cold - the dear - & is going to Syracuse tomorrow) Left at 8:30 for Davis's where were Helen, Chattie, Milly, Florence & E.A.S.. & we did have a jolly time around the red candle-lit table. E.A.S. took me home in her car & was very nice to me (Florence walked!) C.U. gave me a jade pendant & chain & a silk scarf
