191JULY 9 Sat 1910
A boiling hot day - the
highest in 9 years (94 degree)
Father not feeling were this morning so I
stayed quite awhile - also went up at one & he was better. Claude came in & has ordered a night nurse.
Mother came later (looking very tired) and I
went home. Trudy & I had supper
early & then went out to the Park to the
Water Carnival. Jno Stull
let us to the reserved seats. It was fine
R.A.C. got the cup again. About 60000 people there! ice cream later.
Sun 1911
Very hot again. Fixed my room
up after changing beds with MotherClaude's to (out door) dinner & a
nice long (but hot) afternoon with the children. Henry
was very affectionate to me and so beautiful. Claude was dressed - but thin and pale. Came
home to as few clothes as possible. Wrote & read & roasted!
Tues 1912
A hard shower this noon -
otherwise hot! I ate lunched atSibley's with
Lura and "Captain". Mother went to
Autumn Chapter. A trifle cooler tonight
Mrs. Rozon's sister is suffering & dying in
Dansville & they are much worried
Mart Rathjen(see mem.) was in!
Wed 1913 Claude came this a.m. - so many important
things waiting and he is to go back tomorrow night and stay with
Eugenietill her mother arrives.
Today, too, was Strenuous and Herbie
Stern brought me down town in his auto - quite exhausted
Took a bath and cooled off before supper - arm enjoying "[illegible]" again.
Thurs 1914
Went to the station to see
Mrs. Kellogg &
Claude & the Boys off for
N.Y. (Eugeniethere
too) They are going to Aunt Jo for 3
weeks & then probably to Mt. Kisco. Warm Day.
This p.m. to Autumn Chapter. picnic in
Maplewood Park nice supper & band concert.
Matie & boys & Lura & the Daily girls there -
"Mary Esther" ran things!
