246AUGUST 25 Thurs 1910
Terribly muggy hot day. Rode
down with
Marguerite (all dressed up) this p.m. &
back with
Mrs. Farmer tonight. Took a bath before supper.
Mrs. Rowe made quite a long visit on the piazza. Tonight
about 11:30 the temperature dropped suddenly - in 10 minutes - about 15
degrees! The Davis's
may build Lura
& Mrs. B. a house in their side
yard!
Fri 1911
Woke early in harbor of
St Alphonse. Nice walk & cute children to
Kodak (gorgeous sunset early) Windy trip down the river but
very fine - especially [illegible]
Trinity - Echos &c. Walk at [illegible] - old
church (1688) hotel & lovely walk over the mt. thro' the woods.
Indian relics. Afternoon with Pratts on upper deck -
jolly - not really so pretty scenery as yesterday. walk at dusk at
Murray Bay, later - bride & groom - almost to
P.O. to Manor Richelieu (fine) Said goodbye to people from
Phila-Serenade to "Clarinda" &
"Kelly" - regular vaudeville - fire works &c. Music by
Miss Pratt & the singer. A cold night - going cloudy.
Sun. 1912
Warm day but nice. Our
dear boy is home & I spent a
pleasant Sunday p.m. with him. We were there to dinner. I sat out on the
north terrace all the p.m. reading & talking & the boys & I
walked to the car with him. He is fat!
Mon 1913.
Cool & pleasant. The boys
seemed glad to see me. I lunched with Lura, Mary G. &
Miss Campbell
at 5 Mother came & we went over to
the
Gordon & saw "Uncle Tom's Cabin" & other
things. Then to the Manhattan to supper. Home after nine
& I was up very late clearing up my desk, film &c. and writing.
Mother still coughs badly.
Tues 1914
Cool & fine. Had an
interesting lunch with Miss Upton, who
is reading my horoscope. To
Claude's to dinner & heard some of
the Band Concert. Eugenie looked so
pretty in White & a touch of black
