304OCTOBER 22 Sat 1910
A strenuous morning -
Frey's - Bevier
Entrance &c &c. all fussed
up but got home
shortly after one. Claude
the children and Letitia went to [illegible]
ing (Mrs. Ward's) at 4:10 I oiled the fireplace
bricks - got gasoline & did various errands.
Marguerite brought a puzzle over tonight.
Lovely, it was easy as I was awfully sleepy!
Herbert delighted with prospect of
Hayden's for Gurdon.
Sun 1911 Marguerite & I went to
Buffalo at 8:20 - met
Mrs. Bratt
& Bessies there & went on to the falls from noon till nearly 2. We walked
around goat Island. The coloring of both woods &
water was perfectly beautiful. We walked around the edge. It was lovelier than
ever. Then we went to the Kaltenbach (up beyond the cataract)
& had a long German dinner & it rained hard - but stopped so
that we got the 3:15 gorge train & spent 2 lovely hours in that beautiful
"right" hard side. It rained some but the lowering clouds made the rapids
grander - foliage lovely & thin. Got the 5:30 to
Buffalo & the Bratts left us at
Black Rock.
M. & I got a phosphate in
Buffalo & looked into the Statler
came home on the 7:15. Reading the N.Y. papers. A lovely day
altogether.
Tues 1912
Polished off specifications
&c and was very tired & came home to a good supper but just as we were ready Mother's knee (which had been lame several days it
seems) gave out and I fixed her up with antifiligestive &c &c.
Wed 1913
Cool morning & some rain
today. Went down town to banks at noon. Home with
Jim via. Miss Hubbell's
to get a cake. Read and wrote tonight - Mother went calling today.
Thurs 1914
Another lovely day but
cooler. Mrs. Baker
lunched with me (Mother had
Mrs. C & Mrs B.)
at 4:30 "Cap" Gridley & I walked
out the Ave. & to Culver Road Bridge. The red sunset (&
afterward) sky reflected - The lace - edged Pinnacle, the crescent moon
& evening star were be-au-ti-ful! Walked back to Park
Ave
& rested this eve. (Quite tired) after late supper.
