Up late & fussed (very
busy!) till time to go to the Matinee. Mother & I with
Edith J. saw John Barrymore in
the "Fortune Hunter" - a real rain storm & a town like
Dansville. E.
Came home to supper & Gertrude
came & we had a nice visit all the evening - more presents by mail
&c.
see mem. Tues 1911 (see mem)Mr. Lusher told me during breakfast that the "Oceana" was
in Mrs. Hittger left early for the "Taque" &c we at
10:30 & drove till 11:30 - saw boxing day parade and all of
Hamilton, Dorothy &
H. saw us off on to the tender & Mrs.
P. was there. Fine day & everything jolly - met
Ruth Woodward (of Smith) Sailed at quuarer to
12 & had a lovely p.m. & evening (moonlight) Letitia took to her bed early. The children
had a round
with Eugenia Long. Lots of
brides & grooms - only 45 passengers. (cabin 137) We have the starboard
deck steward who is fine upper dining room &c. a nice Mr. Wm
Moyer of St. G. on bd.
Thurs. 1912 Jim sick today but down in p.m. Not
very busy - Shopped at noon (at P.O.) and lunched with
Chattie at the White Kitchen
(!) She wants me to go to Colorado with her &
Helen next summer. Wrote 10
letters tonight &c. &c. have presents.
Fri 1913
A regular blizzard last night
and deep snow this morning, so Jim
couldn't take out the car (with its 4 new tires!) Yesterday & today
I wrote all my Xmas letters 14 or 15 of them. Feel much
better (but still sick!)
Sat 1914
Crisp and cold and sunny. I
was very busy and lunched with
Bess at noon. Met Irene & we walked way thro' the river
trail at
Maplewood - It was lovely, got
acquainted with a squirrel. Took 6 pictures &c. &c. Came up by
Kodak pk. about 4:30. I went to see her father (his 75th birthday) and
later came to a nice supper with
Mother & a real "spoon" by our fire
we [illegible] the pine cones she gave me.
