53FEBRUARY 22 Tues 1910 Washington's Birthday. I celebrated at home in bed - mostly -
partly on the couch by the window - a lovely place but I did feel
miserable all day. Marguerite came
over in the morning. Alice B. telephoned
& the Flack's came by on horseback. Rather a
stormy horrid day anyway. I think the office had a half - holiday. CFB in N.Y. Wed 1911
Fine winter day - but cold. I
worked all day (except a long noon) but Jim & Tappan (&
their "women") went to the Temple in the p.m. & Roy
was gone. Frank worked & Claude
finished Tappan's water- color of the
2nd Baptist church - just for fun. I felt badly all evening.
Played flinch
& went to bed early. Slept pretty well too. It is cold weather.
Marguerite over this noon.
Faught going to Pitkin Weinrichter's for a month.
Thurs 1912
Terrible blizzard - the worst of the the season - snow & wind.
Joe Ramsdell was killed by a snow plow about 3
o'clock this morning. I had lunch with Edith
J. at Sibley's& shopped
a little. It was a rather hard day for everybody, I think. Went to bed
early, after reading a little. The wind roared all
day long & evening.
Sat 1913
Raining this a.m. &
turning cold. It is Lydia's
birthday as well as Washington's & so I give her
a luncheon - with Coralyn
& Mrs. Adams - at Sibley's. Thick porter house - lobster salad &c. &c.
Then we went to the Gordon Theatre. I rested an
hour or so & then spent the evening with
Minette
(Ginger ale and fruit cake!)
Sun 1914
Home, read &c. & got
my own lunch (Mother out) The boys came
down this afternoon and played by themselves. I read then "The
Jungle Book" later they went home about 5 when I went over to
Mary Mac's to supper with her
& Nell, Edith J. and Bess &
Mary
(coffee by the fire - real nice.)
