228AUGUST 7 Sun 1910
A beautiful day. Claude phoned early that they had telephoned
from the hospital that Father
was sinking. Mother got there first
& I about 8:30. We were all then there most of the day.
Claude & Mother went to Cro'nest to
dinner & drove back & I went for a little drive with the
boys. Mother kissed him
about 5 and at 5:25 he quietly fell asleep. Claude & I were with him &
Miss Van Zandt a nurse. We came home & wrote notices &
letters &c.
Mon 1911
Very warm. Claude got home from his lovely
Deerfield - Boston.
Green Acre vacation. He was lionized while in
G.A. Brought a 12 - page birthday letter from
"W. H." - I went home entirely
exhausted at 4:30. Took a bath rested & reclined on the piazza all the
evening talking "Immortality" & kindred subjects with Trudy - She's making bibs.
Wed 1912
A busy day at the office &
everybody glad to see me home (apparently) Lunched with
Margaret Bradshaw. At 5 went to the White
City with Mabel & had
such a good dinner & visit with Mary &
Nellie both on their vacations. I tried
to help Mary plan hers
(Blue Mt. L.Montreal
& Quebec) stopped at the Elk's "dance" on the way
home.
Thurs 1913
Very warm. Took
Mrs. Baker to see "Trelawney of
the Wells" at the Lyceum
& we both enjoyed it.
Fri 1914
Happened to lunch with
Bess &
Maryagain. Warm. Tonight rode around
(with Jim & Claude) & got my new challi dress. Visited with
Ruth
when she got home.
