328NOVEMBER 15 Tues 1910
Gray day, but not a busy one.
Mother came down this p.m. & I went
out with her to McCurdy's & she bought a wash dress
& I a hat! Then went to
F& W's and to the Hippodrome - a
late supper. A horrid letter from Bertie. In the
evening read "Secret Shares" &c. up late.
Wed 1911
Snow this a.m. & tonight
Mother cleaned my room and I
addressed envelopes for
Roger's lectures &c. Lunched with Lura at
Sibley's. "Blanche
were near. Then we went to the "Far East Shop" &
spent an hour & some money. Miss
S. had a lovely chinese brocade with a blood stained
dagger hole in! Made a Noah's Ark bib for Mrs. Buell's
sale tonight & read "Old Wive's Tales".
Fri. 1912. Carolyn Chapin was in for a little chat
today, and Henry
spent most of the p.m. at the office. (Chan is sick - almost
tonsilitis) Lunched alone, Reading aloud tonight.
Sat 1913
Went up to Claude's about 3:30 to stay with the children
while he & E. went to
Wyoming, but found they weren't going. E. not well. Spent the p.m. & Mother came to supper - a nice one. E's Father sent her crysanthemums &
Claude & the children gave her flowers.
Her sister gave her a lovely coat & some other things Finished
reading "The White Linen Nurse" aloud was very much used up at
10:30 when I went to bed.
Sun 1914
A very rainy day. Packed & fussed & wrote &c. In the p.m.
the Boys came down & looked at old Harper's weekly (1898)
I took my hat to C.U's. Then went to
Ruth Hubbard's for a short chat (still "expecting") and
then home to supper & accounts. Had a nice long 'phone visit with
Irene this morning. I with
Edith J. (who wants to meet
Miss Otnot) and one with Mary
Gridley.
