261SEPTEMBER 9 Fri. 1910 A hard wind storm came up in the night. The lake looked awful and covered with white caps. I saw a sail boat with four men come in - soaking wet. De- cided last night to go home today. The old German lady & "Charlie
" went this a.m. I walked to "Miss Clarkson's" house (East) and played with Bascom's turtle & read before dinner. Talked with A.S. on Taylor's dock afterward & came away at 3:30 with Mr. Holmes & Mr. Rogers M.H. went to R. with me. Mother surprised. Phoned Kath &c.
Sat. 1911. Frances Davis & Mary Dickens birthday and Alice Bradshaw's wedding day. I lunched with Miss McAffrey at Sibley's. She told me about her trip to Washington. At 3:30 I met Nana & took over the boys & took them out to Frances' party - 9 were there. They behaved very nicely and were happy when I brought them home at 6. Read "Queed" tonight (party to Mother) Alice Bradshaw's wedding at 5 o'clock. Mon 1912 Went up to see Mary "Dickey" today & promise her a tree for her birthday. Late home (finishing specifications) Miss Fox (of Washington) came to room with us. She is studying cafeteria work at the Mechanics. Mrs. Caring has four girls. Tues 1913. Nice day. Lunched with Florence McL. this noon & had quite a chat. Our new roomer Mary Brown came & her Mother left. Wed 1914 Six of "us women" went over to Golf's Island & all around it & saw their lovely camps this a.m. They are fine & so were the woods & the woodland garden. Home for lunch & in the p.m. Ruth went to Inlet with the cooks & we 3 explored the shirt camps & the shore line to 7th Lake House, where I called on Cad Goler who is there. Sat on the clock with her till the girls came back for me. Mary's birthday. We had a cake with candles & a popcorn celebration at the campfire. (see mem)
