249AUGUST 28 Sun. 1910
Lovely day. Helped Claude with estimate & at the office this
a.m. & went to Cro'nest to dinner.
Henry had tummy-ache a little. Took 2
pictures - sat on drops. Then went to Davis.
Saw Helen's new clothes &
Frances' ribbons & talked
house plans. Then home & lit up the fire again & Mother & I sat by it a long time with the
cab. She recited "Snow bound". Then we wrote till late - too
late!
Mon 1911
A nice cabin (22) & a nice
boat - the "Geronia" - meals 50-50.
Montreal 10:30. Walked to Emma Mac's (31 Drummond St.) waited & they
shopped (glens & pen) & went back & saw Wallace
& then Emma. Boat
& dinner (very private!) Then it poured & we played 500, sewed &
ate candy all p.m. Everyone came in wet. Watched the locks in the
evening. People walked from one to another (tho' it rained some) The Captain's
pretty daughter is on board. Van Ingen girls very nice.
Wed 1912
Cool & turned into a
horrid cold rain tonight. We "Perfects"
went to Mabel's and Florence
's to dinner. Talked & enjoyed each other. Edith
not there - but everyone else (Helen
out of town)
Thurs. 1913
Dark rather muggy day.
Jim & Helen
went to Cobourg. Tonight I went with
Captain to a Belasco first night "The
Temperamental Journey" by Dr. Trichstein. It was
fine - two acts especially. Poured when it was over. The power was off a long while &c.
&c. Didn't get home till 20 minutes of one!
Fri. 1914
Cloudy. Rain tonight. A nice
lunch with Florence
who's to be married Monday & tonight Miss Upton came up to the office with
my horoscope, read new palms &c. &c. It was very interesting. Wrote
late.
