18JANUARY 18 Tues. 1910 A January thaw. Father feeling better. Everybody at the office cheerful - such a contrast to the last year's worries about competition. Went to Seel's & the Hippodrome at noon & up to CFB's office with Jim. Busy all day & got in to a bob- tailed car that kept getting stuck tonight (#206 - Mr. Moore enlivened it). Finished Wm Allen White's "A Certain Rich Man" tonight - a very good book and "a lesson to millionaires (!) - poor thing!! Wed. 1911 A fine day as to weather but bad otherwise. I shopped this a.m. Aunt Melissa very sick - we got a postal. Braslow here. He is discharged from the N.Y.C
 ("cutting down") and Dahem
also. He had an operation in Columbus yesterday. Gilmore up tonight. I am going to fix programmes now. JWC down. (see mem)# Thurs. 1912 Quite warm & cloudy & finer. Walked down with Ruth & Justine Cunningham. They may move to Detroit. Tonight read some, but felt very restless. I do dread this everlasting end of Winter & Spring. I never feel fine then. Sat 1913. Rain. This p.m. went to see Mantell in "Hamlet" with Louise Fenner, Jim & his Helen. It was very good, but Sothern & Marlow are better. Turned into a snow & wind storm this evening - pretty, too! Sun 1914 The new station
open today at home.
A lovely sunny morning - Took two beautiful walks in the woods - chased rabbit tracks. Visited "the tangle" interviewed hunters, took pictures. Back by the roof about 11. Took dinner rather late & Marguerite came up right after & staid awhile, in my room. Then we & went down to Marguerite's - & with her to Margaret Daniels( new-figure) took a walk - wrote & went over to Top col
to such a good supper. Dr Kate & [illegible] were there when I arrived, but didn't stay. Albert
 came back
