128MAY 7 Sat 10 Edward VII of England died suddenly of pneumonia just before midnight last night and today George V succeeds. JGC refused a petition for a half-holiday yesterday, but today took one himself. Tonight Lura & "Marie" & Mother & I lunched together at Sibley's & Mary
joined us later. (Dora's table by window) We shopped & then went to Powers & heard Crystal Eastman on woman's suffrage Henry & Chan were down town this a.m. & Mary & Lura talked with them. They we so dear.
Sun 1911 A beautiful day. I went to the office about 10:30 to finish up a few odds & end of the N.Y.C specifications so Tappan could take them tonight, and staid right thro' till 4! Then went up to Claude's with Marguerite and sat out doors till sunset. Mother & the children went for a drive. We had ice cream & out doors. Wrote & read "Bluebird" together. Tues 1912 Still warm. Decided to let the furnace out (first time since September!) Claude stopped in on his way to the train tonight - going to Phila. to look at terracotta. I lunched with Mother at Sibley's this noon and we shopped some. Both were tired tonight. Wed 1913. The Rowes [illegible] here to breakfast! Nice day. Lunched with Bess & Mary at Sibley's. Tonight Mrs. Arnold & Louise spent the evening here. We had a fire in the grate - & such a nice time! Till late, too! Thurs 1914 Cool and lovely went out to Cro'nest but missed going down with the boys. Had a talk with E. & came down via. So. Ave. Car. Lunched at Mechanics & tried on my new black & white brillantine. Walked home. Read "Laddie" aloud till everyone went to sleep! Felix
is thin nowadays.
