129MAY 8 Sun 1910
Up about 7. Cloudy but no rain
(as expected) Claude invited us all to
dinner, but as it did not rain at 11, I took the car to
Webster then, with Lura - the girls joining us later (Mary &
Nellie) Had a lovely ride & walked out
to "Dew Drop" from the station. Ma
Wright greeted us. We went over to the woods - full of trillium
& violets - before dinner. It rained a drop or two after dinner. We loafed
- played phonograph - Sat in swing, went to the little bridge & watched
the fish - took a little walk. at 5 I took a long one - to the cemetery &
back. The sun was out & everything lovely - blossoms not quite in their prime. Tinker
lost (& found)
[illegible] catnip
Mon 1911
Beautiful weather. Home
to lunch. Feel pretty blue today - (as I always do in May!) Marguerite was over tonight & brought
her sewing
Wed 1912
Strenuous day. Down early
& wrote all
JG'
s specifications (from
dictation) & a lot of
Wolcott plumbing. (House commenced) Lunched alone late at
Sibley's & walked down with
Lura tonight.
Clarence Smith's Announcements (of new store) came - all
wrong! Meta & Herma spent the evening with me. Mother went to church meeting.
Thurs 1913. Mother, Lydia
, Bess & Mary & "Aunt Nellie" & I all went to Highland Park & had a nice supper (including hot
tea!) saw the lilacs & primroses & pansies & quince & crab
apple blossoms (all lovely!) were very jolly & C. & I walked home across lots. Saw Jim's & Mrs. R
's lots.
Fri 1914
Walked up to Jim's this a.m. & rode down with the
whole
Family (This is a favorite stunt lately!) I went
to Mechanics for dress again and
then, lunched with
Florence. She had just had an un- kind
letter from E.A.S.& felt very badly
about it. Went to Gordon & saw "Brewsters
Millions" this p.m. Then home to wash dishes & talk with
"the girls".
