55FEBRUARY 24 Thurs. 1910 Another day at home. Cold & bright outside. Read Chesterton on "Shaw" & the "Foreign" &c. Mrs. Rowe was over & in the p.m. Minnie (Henry's former nurse) and at 5 Mary Mac came up. I got dressed after a fashion but caught more cold toward night and till feel "pretty rocky" - Mother is such a dear! The Kittens amuse me greatly - got my Sunday pictures (Papa stopped at F&W's) Fri 1911 Busy at home, so I lunched with Lura at Sibley's and then went to Wheeler - [illegible] to replace a broken shade. Alice Wolfe came at 6:26. Gurdon got her - in a taxicab - & he staid to supper and for the evening. Told her about leaving Hayden's. Sat 1912 Went to Dr. McInter's for 2 hours this pm. (to have a bridge done) and then killed time at the Hippo &c till six, when I met Lura & Mary & Nellie Mac for a nice supper at Sibley's & a theatre party - Mrs. Fiske in "Lady Patricia" at the Lyceum. Rather a fool character for her & not a pleasing one - The scenery - & costumes - were charming & everything well appointed but the "moral" rather a satire - in this country, at least. Mon 1913 Kind of a gloomy day - weather wise. Cad Goler phoned me to come to lunch which I did - nice sandwiches & chocolate as usual. Tues 1914 4º below zero. Mae Stull lunched with me & told me about the lovely house - party (8) she is to have over Sunday. [Nice long evening at home] - This was Wednesday - Meta's Tuesday.
