40FEBRUARY 9 Wed 1910 A strange day as to weather. Woke up early (upstairs) & it was very mild - almost rain at noon - so dark we had to eat by Electrics in our light dining room for lunch - a white mist this pm. Frost on the wires when I came home (and such dim electrics!) and a sticky blizzard (but beau- tiful) tonight. Went over to Marguerite's while our lights misbehaved & read (with Tinker
on my lap) later, bought a muff & saw Annette Kellerman in moving pictures!
Thurs. 1911 Lovely bright day Mr. Green of Pittsburgh was in & Claude invited him to the Chamber of Commerce dinner - (He had already invited James & Tappan) JG wired to Pres. Brown & got permission to. exhibit station drawings (returned from League) Mary & I visited Lura a little will this pm. and tonight I read Howell's "Pony Engine" to Mother- Marguerite brought it over for me to read to the boys.
Bath & bed early - rather tired. Alice not coming this week.
Fri. 1912 Cold day. Wrote Barnard's Spec,
Mr. Stern started for N.Y. tonight. Read "A Likely Story" again. It is so fine! Home to lunch & a quiet evening.
1913. Sun. We went up to dinner today. Henry sick in Father's room but so good. Read to him then Mrs. Ramsdell took Mother & me thro' the Castle (being remodeled) & I walked to Davis' by way of van Zandt's flat (!) was caught in a storm on Pinnacle Road. Had a nice visit & staid to supper with Mrs. D. & Chat. The rest of the family came just before I left. Mon 1914. Lunched with Bess & Mary at 5 went over to the Gordon & saw "The Day of Day's" &c. Then to Child's to lunch & who should come in but Herbert Stern to eat with me! Met Ruth
& Mother over at Convention Hall
