, Mrs. Adams & I walked up to Cro'nest for a visit with "Nana" (Claude went to N.Y. with Burgess last night) & took
Henry& Chan over to Highland Park
via. the wood path to the Pavilion & back (delighted!) Mother came to dinner & Letitia's friends the Shaws
were there. Then I went to the MacArthur's new house & to Davis's. Both girls had toast and tea with us.
Mon 1913
The awful details this a.m. of
the drowning of
Mrs. Bennett. Edith
Scott's sister in Syracuse - her husband
ran the car into an open canal bridge. Florence will be all broken up over it. Edith's abroad for a year. The weather is
mild & pleasant.
Tues 1914 Election Day. Went to the dressmaker's (Miss
MacDonalds's) in a.m. Down to Miss
Upton's to lunch & to get things. Back at 3 (a lovely p.m.)
& "kept shop" while the boys had a holiday. Met Florence later and sent Irene a rose by her. E.A.S.
didn't materialize. There was a lady in her car.
