344DECEMBER 31mem
Sat 1910 I was really too sick to work - but did. Lunched with 6
other "Perfects" at
Duffy's. Mabel brought us roses & was entertaining. She looks fine.
Went to Gleny's Auction &
shopping with Mary &
Mabel. Then to the office & the
Hippo. & home- had a night fever & a bad cold was really sick tonight.
Sun 1911
Up to Claude's (in the deep snow) at 8:30 for break-
fast and, such a nice Xmas pudding with
the
3 dear Boys! They were treasures - & so dear.
Back before 11. A call from Mrs. Rowe. Busy all day. A
nice chicken dinner with Mother &
then went to Mary's at seven (all dressed
up!) and had a fine dinner (cocktails, Xmas trees &c.) with 9 "remnants"
of
Perfects. A nice visit of course. We sent a night
message to Matie A.Helen brought me a book "Miss
418" Heard bells ringing for 12 when I undressed.
Tues 1912 Mother,Trudy and I lunched down town todays at Sibley's. Saw everyone we knew, nearly.
Helen,
Lura, Zoe &c. Tried to get tickets for the Temple
but they were all gone. A pretty "gladsome" night down town, I imagine,
but I didn't even hear the bells! We had a nice little visit here at
home.
Wed 1913
A darksome day! Lunched alone
at
Sibley's but saw Mabel & Mary there. Went down to Lowenguth's
with Jim but it was locked. They move
in this week. Shopped with him in the auto tonight. A cold sleety rain.
The new French maid "Marie
" came to
Claude's. Figured & wrote tonight after
fixing my light. Hilarity down stairs!
Thurs 1914 Meta's boy "Theodore"
born at 5 a.m.
C.U. came up brought me a dear New Year's letter & took me to a dinner at
the Seneca
(after I went to the banks &c.) We were two hours at table but she
was disappointed at the wine &c. Then she
brought me candy & nuts. I worked late. Irene 'phoned me twice &
Florence once. Tonight put away
Xmas
things, did accts and now bath and bed &
no more journal. I'm happy & mean to be always.
