308OCTOBER 26 Wed 1910 Gurdon Wolfe came in this a.m. - went out to Hayden's & came back lunched with Mother & me at Sibley's - delighted - he came to work Monday at $10.00 to start & all sorts of promises. Edith Andrews stopped in too. It rained at night. John and Amelie probably won't build for the boys. Figures too high - much disappointment. Henry, Chan & Letitia got home from "Hillside Country". Thus 1911 Felt so much better after my long sleep & almost well by night. Claude had laid awake imbibing "Higher Space". He dictated some. He is wonderful. I only hope I'll have the light to help him along. Home to lunch & at 5 to Miss Colegroves for my green dress fitting. Finished Galsworthy's book tonight - good. Also read my favorite "Brush Wood Boy" again - one of the most wonderful stories ever written - even by Kipling! Sat 1912 Claude phoned me this morning that he had brought Mother home at her earnest request! She seems much better! I lunched with Bess - went back to the office & wrote a couple of letters and then came home & did various household things. Mrs. Rowe called. Lydia read us a story tonight. I finished "Vesty of the Basins, Marguerite lent me. Sun 1913 Rainy day. Went to Claude's to dinner & the room was so bright & pleasant with the plant window! Mother & I went to see Jim's lovely little house, wife & rug (all them) & thro' Mrs. Ramsdell's & then I left a card at Mrs. Perrins - called at Chattie (sick as I was) & took Francey home to Zoe and Frank. Mon 1914 Florence called me up and I lunched with her today. There are heart-burns in that "Triangular alliance Florence - Edith & Irene". The first & last confide at me. E. has no heartburn!
