Channie has an invisible play- mate
called "Tobby"*. He is "sleeping in a kit (attic") His "muzzer is
dressing him" &c. &c. Today Chan

This little
Frances
is a youthful Isadora Duncan. Danced with a flower
(& kneeled & gave it to me) as tho' she was a dream. Did
"Electra" and some lovely Spanish things. She has 2 sisters
even more beautiful (their pictures). Mrs. S
has a nephew who was a toreador in Spain. I
saw his pictures - also her "my 2 Gardens"
done in silver & turquoise (CFB's design) for which she is making a
Florentine case. The (house is full of things "with a history" & even the
garden vases all like a Maxfield Parrish picture!
19 bed and weak but really
much better. Chan wanted
"Father" to telephone Friday (28th)
that "Nana's temperature was normal"!
CFB has been reading her
Henry James, which she enjoys. He is giving a series of
lectures at
Mrs. Allen's & that is his subject new years.
Nov. 18 1913. Henry wrote a poem & illustrated it. It
began: "Oh the woe Oh we love to hear the cannons roar Oh we
love to see the flashing soards. Oh we love to see
the white sails on the sea But when we see the heroes on the decks All
served with heroes blood" &c!
19 I am made the
confident of two both dead in love with E.A.S., and she knows I know it. F and I are so far apart in the way
they see things that I can see nothing but a break in their friendship.
Who's to mend it! E.A.S. or me or no
one?
