Claude told me a good deal about Walter Hampden (Dougherty) who is 32. Father a rent lawyer, brother an eminent landscape artist. He & Claude certainly are affinities. His wife Mabel Moore is of good [illegible] English 2 children boy - girl, about our boys' age. Hammond Clark his devoted follower - also Will Hutchins (a Yale amateur) and Mr. Oyer (a finished young actor) Claude thinks he is one of the "Greatest Souls" he ever met & he thinks he was sent here especially to meet Claude.

& Florence Pennybacher of Phila 2 Mr. Champ (of Chgo & Toronto) & a number of others - about 50 in all. The Wigmore family, Mr. &Mrs. Hope & Ethels & Mr. [illegible] , Hope's fiancee.
May 29 1913 contd. Helen & Jim came around & bid each one goodbye & then went up to dress & we threw confetti. When they came down - (looking fine) They went to New York - then on so. Nantucket (June 5) & to The Tappan's (14) I went home & changed my dress & went to the office in the p.m. Tonight. Oct 23 1914 (Chandler's poems) "Our Flag & our Country" "Our Flag is of the union. The soldiers are marching around. This way & that way you can see' Footprints in the ground. Washington is our father, The father of our country, Lincoln saved the flag. Thy bombs bursting in air, Thy rifle blast I hear, Hark! I hear the cannons roar in the air. The soldiers are marching still. Our heroes live forever. (over)
