373DECEMBER 30 Fri 1910 Dear Mother's 73rd birthday. She spent most of the day at Cro'nest with the children. Had a birthday cake &c. (Letitia went to Industry) I lunched with Bess & Mary & they came up in the evening - brought Mother roses & worked on a scrapbook awhile. I loafed & toasted them marshmallows. We had a fine grate fire - very cold outdoors! Sat 1911 Dear Mother's birthday! Got up about 9 & to the office at 10. Worked strenuously till six - (developed 2 rolls) end of year &c. &c. went over to Sibley's & had such a nice supper - un- expectedly - with the 4 - leaf clovers. Shopped with Mary & Bess afterward - came home & sewed, ironed, did accounts, settled &c. &c. &c. till after three a.m.! What would Mother say! One of the most intense days I ever spent got my horoscope. Claude's Xmas presents! Mon 1912 Dear Mother's 75th birthday - but she's younger than any of us in many ways. Hamilton & Jack McI called. He is as twinkly and as complementary as ever. Gertrude came today - so long since I've seen her! We had a visit this eve. & Edith came & stayed till nine. Brought Mother a lovely pink-basket bouquet, tied with gauze ribbon. Tues 1913 Mother lunched with me today, at Sibley's, in honor of her birthday. She was so lovely. Edith J. was with us some of the time. Tonight we played flinch awhile & then I read my old 1895 journal (N.Y. & Boston) to Mother till quite late. I feel pretty "rocky" these days!
Henry went to "Pearl Creek" & fell in!
Wed 1914 Mother77. We sold the 777th "B.N."
She lunched with me (after I had had a long talk with Irene in the private office. All about it. Bess & Mary lunched too. Then we went to "Peg O' My heart" (so good). Shopped & went down to Carolyn's to dinner. She's so good to me! Such a nice dinner & home by moonlight. She gave Mother a book, a handkerchief, a box of candy, some candied orange peel &c. &c. I gave her a diary & some stamps! We do love her so!
