356DECEMBER 13 Tues. 1910 Mother & I lunched at Sibley's (Autumn
Chapter day.) It was very strenuous at
the office. I worked till about 7 & then went to F &
W's & Hippo & home. Up late
again, talking with Meta - who stays
here nights.
Wed. 1911
Cooler. Rain this morning,
but cleared off. Got my tickets & express checks. Home to lunch.
Tonight went to
Fred & Clara Boyce's
to dinner such a good one - & stayed till 10:30 or so. They told us
about Jno. Church's & charenAlice [illegible]
engagement. Rode up with Miss Craigen who had been
to see the Russian Dancers.
Fri. 1912
(looking at above) Rode down
with Miss Craigen, who told me about her Mother's
death. Home to lunch for a change. The girls sat around the table with
us (as usual / tonight and then we "retired" to our rooms to read.
Sat. 1913
Dark morning. Claude, Jim,
"Herbie" Stern & I had a ride
out to the lovely new Stern factory & then
to the Station. I work steadily till after 3. Felt blue & tired &
miserable - but went to the Art Gallery & met Marguerite
& saw the Sterner pictures & then took a nice
walk, tho' "circle" St. & to the tracks & budge. Back to a nice
dinner & evening with Miss HenryEthel Manchester, Miss Woodhouse &
Mr. R. Sun. 1914
A dark cloudy day. Breakfast
at 10:30. Dinner at 4. Fixed Xmas things &c. and in the
evening Florence and Irene
came - in a lovely snowstorm. We had a lovely time sitting before the
fire, and later had supper on the Library table then
Letitia came and brought us come "short
bread". The girls seemed to enjoy it & I did.
F. gave me a letter she'd written to
E.A.S. to read.
