203JULY 13 Wed 1910 Lovely day - cooler after the Rain. Jno
is 50 today. JGC went to N.Y. I went to the Hospital. Father had a good night. Home to lunch. This p.m. Edith came in & we went over to the 5:40 train to see Trudy off. I went as far as Charlotte with her & came back on the trolley. Read "The Depot Master". Margaret [illegible] called. Late supper with Mother.
Thurs 1911 Still cool & pleasant. Shower in distance. Saw a Curtiss biplane from the office. Mothersaw it fine at Mrs. Jno & Brewster's. Went out to Claude's with prints at 5. He went to N.Y. tonight. Mother staid there to supper. I came home & wrote till too late. Everybody used up after the strenuosity of heat and Shriners, (this is the last Shriners - day!) Sat 1912 My 4th Prize vacation Story came out in the Herald & read a little better than I hoped! I came home to lunch today & I lived with Mother this p.m. and about 6:30 Marguerite& I went up to the water- carnival (via 4-corners) Had reserved seat (Mr. Stern) & enjoyed it immensely in spite of quite a hard shower. The music was especially nice - & appropriate (!) Floats few but good and fireworks first class! Got the 1st car home! Sun 1913 Hot, but a high wind to temper it. Mother went to church & Jim came for me (unexpectedly) in the new ford. Walter
with him. We went to Cro'nest and to South Park & around it & picked up Herman Butler on Plymouth Ave. and home. Had a nice dinner & a lazy afternoon - reading & writing.
Mon 1914 Warm. Lunched with B & M Claude back. Boys OK with Aunt Jo. Read &c. tonight. The Strickland's getting ready to auto to Watkin's tomorrow.
