136MAY 15 Sun. 1910
A lovely May Day. Father & Mother
went to church & I went down to
Seneca Park for a long walk way in
to the end. Then to Highland for the
gorgeous lilac's & spent the pm. (& had dinner) with my lovely
nephews - mostly outdoors - Nana went to
Industry & went away early & Mother came up around 5. I got supper later.
Letitia brought me violets.
Mon. 1911
Nice day but warmer.
Tappan home but went back tonight.
At 4 went with
Marguerite, Miss
Durney, Miss Chase &
Miss McSweeney out to "Smith's" (Father, Mother
3 sons & a maid - very nice) & cooked sausages on the beach of
the bay - gathered violets, apple blossoms
lilies cowslips, trillium &c. saw "Susie" the calf "Baby" the colt,
the dog. the goslings &c. had music & walk down the hill & the
9:15 car home - all fine!
Wed. 1912
Bright but still cold
Frederick VIII of
Denmark died suddenly last night. Came home to lunch.
Was so sleepy I could hardly do anything tonight. Walked down with
Miss McLaughlin
tonight. Read some magazines.
Thu. 1913.
Remarkably lovely
weather - but we ve kept on the furnace fire, for its cool. The days are
full - of what? we shall miss the girls.
Fri. 1914
Very lovely day (as to looks)
but still cool. Got breakfast mostly for Chattie & me (Mrs. D. in
Atlantic City) & did the dishes while she made
the bed's. Home to lunch (Gurdon
called last night!) Waited for Florence
to go to Short Hills
and missed a lovely ride with Jim &
[illegible]
to Webster. Usual birthday melancholy
Claude's teahouse top painted - lovely!
