6JANUARY 6 Thurs. 1910 JWC's 13th wedding anniversary! & he
kept me "hustling" all day, so that I was dead tired at night. A nice
winter's day. Lunched alone at Sibley's & went to "Shanghai" at the
Hippodrome - & elsewhere. Walked down with
Miss Flack tonight & saw Reg & Dana in car.
CFB
home from N.Y. Found out that Geo.
Gale of N.Y.
(Herb's friend) is in the Cutler
Co - with the N.Y.'s stockholders! Tonight Father read (in his new house coat) from Ben
Hur. & I snoozed & played with cats. Made snow cream
later.
Fri. 1911 Tappan sick & Jim's uncle dying. Raphel
here & "something doing." Claude
went to call on J.W. Found him with
crutches, but glad to see him. He sent his "more than kindest regards"
to me! Was just about dead tonight-sitting up so late & all. Went to
bed early after a hot bath.
Marguerite was over & we went down to-
gether this morning.
Sat. 1912
Lovely winter's day - very
cold. Went out to
Mae Stull's to a nice lunch - no dinner -
& to take the sketches & watercolor of their house up the river.
Staid till four o'clock & had the nicest visit. Then went over to
Mrs. Wolf's but she wasn't in - walked down the ave. Went
to the Hippo & spent the evening before our nice
open fire.
Mon. 1913 Carolyn
got back today. The storm very general & many many wires
down.
CFB got back - rather a sad visit in
N.Y. I'm afraid (E's mother)
Tues. 1913
Shopped a lot (underwear)
and lunched at McCurdy's. Read aloud to the
family tonight. Still pretty tired.
