371DECEMBER 28 Wed 1910
Snowy & wet & horrid.
Trudy shopped early (a muff) &
then stayed at E. High
all day. I lunched with Lura &
was late home. Missed all the cars &c. Jessie
H. was here & she & Trudy left at 6:15 (train at 7)
Mother & I went to
Rowe's awhile. Bed early
Thurs 1911
A fearful and beautiful
ocean! Wind & cold all day - 2 sailors hurt - one badly. The boys ok
& good. Nana all gone up (down) I
loafed in the "sun parlor" all a.m. The boys ate dinner alone (I didn't stay)
& we sat out in the cold spray this p.m. awhile
Mr. Meyer & the stewards & everyone are so nice & the children
good. The stewardess had to dress Henry. They got us all on deck after dinner
with a promise of landing - but we went back - to sleep in harbor - lovely sea!
Sat 1912
I went to the
Hippodrome and then over to
Sibley's to lunch. Saw CharellaFrank &
Mr. Burr near me. Got my grand new muff
(Xmas from CFB &
KEB) from Mr.
Mengering
of Meng & Scharfers. Went out to Alice Galloways - Sue awfully cute.
Alice jealous of
Margaret
now. I fear - shopped on the way home. Read
"Colliers" tonight. Bed rather early.
Sun 1913
Spent the morning home,
clearing up &c. and to
Cro'nest to dinner. Taught
"Purchase" to Henry &
Chan. Then walked down to Jim & Helen's & staid a few minutes & they came down with
me & stopped in to see our presents. Later went to Davis's to supper. The Mac Arthurs there but
Lura had gone home sick. I staid
longest & had such a nice visit Helen & Chat.
Mon 1914
Great stirring up &c. at
the office. My Dearest Dear got back today and
phoned me at once. She & Mother & I
lunched together & then I got a black suit at
Forman's. Tonight after I had got home she called
& I went down there for a talk & to see her presents till 10:30.
She was just the sweetest!
