15JANUARY 15 Sat. 1910
Fine winter's day. Very busy
at office. Two new girls sending off notices of patent decision. Alice B. had her salary raised to $10.00
(with "kind words") Came home to lunch and tonight went with Lura to Hippodrome &
then to Sibley's to lunch or dinner
where she told me a lot of her "troubles" (at Davises) Hamilton &
Milly appeared for a little while
- just back from N.Y.Lilian is to come home from the
hospital tomorrow. Later we met Mrs.
Baker & went to the Temple Theatre to see
the "Aerial Ballet" &c.
Sun 1911
Very slippery this a.m. but
Mother went to church. We got up
late & I was busy all morning. Dined at home & this p.m. went to
Davis- & saw Mrs. Davis (only) who looks very frail. Then
I went to Hamilton & Milly's (met Frank
& Frances on the way) They live
now way up
Laburnum Crescent - beyond the Pinnacle
Road. Talked Hotel & pictures mostly. Staid to supper
got home about 9:30. Wrote letters, cold & bleak tonight.
Mon 1912
Very cold. Gurdon took Alice to the station at 10. Her train was 3 hours late, but
she got another (earlier). Tonight I brought my CFB books home & worked on them till 11
or so!
Wed 1913 Claude went to Albany
for the day. I moved out into the draughting room and "slicked up" the
office. Read a little tonight.
Thurs 1914
Lovely snow storm. Breakfast
(good) at 8. Then took a nice walk to the village & called on
Dr. & Mrs.
Andrews & Mrs. Davidson. Sunrised
them. Went to drug store & Mrs. Rowe's (but didn't
get in) I got electricity treatment at 10:40 & wrote to Mother & read by the open fire till lunch.
Then went down & had a nice call on Mrs. Rowe &
wine & Xmas cakes & finished my letter before my Moliere
