28JANUARY 28 Friday 1910 Rather a gloomy day - weather wise, JG lost his temper this a.m. & swore at Harper and called him a fool &c. I was amazed & so was everyone. We had a very exciting time at noon. Mrs. Caring's house got on fire - her room & closet burned out & its a wonder the house didn't - only the firemen came so quickly. We telephoned & com- forted &c. &c. Tonight I read McClure's & a nice letter from Harriette
& one from Alice too.
Sat. 1911 My Sat p.m. at the office. I came home to early lunch. Had a nice time with CFB (who is designing the C of C
menu covers) & then went with Bess & Mary to Sibley's to supper. We were slow & heard the music &c. and then did a little shopping & finally went in to Glenny's closing out auction (they close up Feb. 1.) It was quite amusing. Later went to Duffy's &c & home. A good deal of Neuralgia today. Lovely clear windy day.
Sun 1912 Staid home all day till 5 (Claude in N.Y.) Cleared out my desk &c. &c. Then went to Lura's to a nice dinner with her & her mother. (After my nice one with my Mother). Tues 1913. Claude's cook Francis Clark left yesterday I'm glad to say and Minnie
is coming. I shopped some today and went down to Duffy's to lunch Saw Klem G. and Bess H.
Wed 1914 Mild & sunny then a foggy p.m. (very) Went up to Cad Goler's for one of her nice living room lunches. Tonight Ruth
& I saw Annie Russell in "She Stoops to Conquer" from the loft, very good. Came home very tired.
