34FEBRUARY 3 Thurs 1910 Nice wet snow storm today. Staid down & saw some unusually nice pictures at the Hippodrome (a yachting episode &c.) Tonight went to the Lyceum with Mary & Nellie saw Sir Chas. Wyndham in "The Mollusc" - It was quite a remarkable little play (Mrs. Davis - ish) and well done only I don't like to see a man of 72 taking "juvenile" parts! Fri. 1911 Fine cold winter day. Walked down with Ruth C, came home to lunch. The boys were here this p.m. I walked back via. the Bevier Building
- It is lovely I think. Read Leadbeater's
"Outline of Theosophy" tonight & sewed a little. Our cats are certainly beauties. Amelie & Donald were in the [illegible] at the time of the dynamite Explosion day before yesterday, but didn't get hurt.
Sat. 1912 Fine cold winter's day. Home to lunch (chicken dinner, rather) and had a nice afternoon with Mother reading & sewing by the window. In the evening Marguerite was over & we had a grate fire. I read "Following the Star"
(the "Rosary" woman)
Mon. 1913 I stay down to lunch all the time now - & often go to a picture show or something to kill time - but it's rather hard on my eyes. Tues. 1914 Lunched today with Helen & Jim at Sabins
(fried scallops!) Then got Mal a birthday present (It's tomorrow ) It was a lovely day. Tonight went to a theatre party with Alice Wolfe, Barbara Caswell, Augusta McMurray - Evelyn Hubbard at the Baker "The escape" very exciting. Gurdon came for us in the Packard & we drove down the dark lane and to the stage door & in to see Elsie Riser - the leading lady, & Alice's namesake, in her dressing room - met the villain&c. They brought me home, of course.
