22JANUARY 22 Sat. 1910 Dr. Scranton died today - the dear man! High wind today. Lunched with myself at Sibley's & had a long conversation with Fanny Mowery Chase formerly of Dansville, then of Ala- bama & now of Colorado - & her nice husband - she says she has a boy of six. Her mother has just died. Shopped some. Hippo tonight and then home to paste, read &c. Tinker
& Peter crazy to be out. Letitia stopped. Bath & bed about eleven. No good news in patent matters at office today.
Sun 1911 Nice bright cold slippery day. Nana brought the children down this a.m. for an hour or so. We went up there to dinner & then she & I took them over to Tappan's via. Goodman St. very slippery part way. Mrs T.
sick a bed, but Miss Hill, her sister "Roo" & Jessie
entertained us - the children had a tea party &c. When we got home Letitia gave me tea. The children - Henry especially - were lovely. Read rather late.
Mon 1912 Snowstorm. Felt sleepy & used up all day. Dr. McInter says about $60.00 worth of dentistry! (my summer vacation!) went to bed rather early after a lazy evening on the sofa. Wed. 1913. Bright and fine. A nice lunch with Mary and Bess (who has had the grippe) Tonight went to the Universalist Church with Lydia
to hear Mr.
Rogers
on "Reincarnation" (not so very good)! Yesterday Chan had his feet examined &c. He has flatfoot in the left & it must be strapped up & he must take exercises.
Thurs. 1914 Nice winter's day. Walked down. Busy of course - Mr. Stern went off to N.Y. with his nephew "Bunny"
post haste (ear ache) Lunched with Bess, Mary & "Polly" Ehrhart
& went to the Hippo. Had a session with Mrs. Crouch who likes my YWCA plans but wants an impossible porch - Referred her to Pitkin. Worked till after 6 & then came home & wrote letters. Gurdon & Ruth
are to be married the 5th of Feb. Felix
is a darling - asleep on my bed!
