256SEPTEMBER 4 Tues. 1910
Our
N.Y. motor-boat friend went off this morning &
a big Toronto boat was in - Also the
"Iroquois" of Rochester (some young men)
This a.m. The sun was out and we rowed up the river - lots of turtles,
[illegible]divers, a few lilies &c. Stopped at a steep
landing & explored - ate apples - good dinner. Saw various fishing
parties &c. off & then went down the beach & had a
marshmallow-roast - & read & rested. It almost
rained. Bess had a headache tonight.
Slept in "annex".
Mon. 1911
Labor Day and a gorgeous one
too As to weather. Went to the P.O. &c. in the a.m. and saw some of
the Parade. This p.m. went with Claude
& the boys & Nana to the
"Mikado" - at Sherberts - awfully funny
& good, as of old. Henry asked
"when the shade was going up". & Chan wanted to know if we didn't "love the
white lady" &c. Very amusing. Saw some of the
Letter Carrier's Parade. Tonight sewed and read. Get sleepy early
these days.
Wed 1912
Nothing special. Busy
day and warm (first week of school) Read, do cross stitch &
play flinch.
Thurs 1913
Pleasant day, but cool.
Lunched with Bess & Mary at the "Blue"
plate. They lent me "Mr. Pratt". Read tonight.
Fri. 1914
Cloudy & cold. Read in
the Shack awhile & then Bess &
I walked to 7th Lake House & on to the Bridge. After lunch we
all 3 rowed up to 8th carry & left Mary there. Bess & I
walking about 5 miles up beautiful Micas Road (South) saw an
osprey's nest with young osprey in & later 3
dress! A bunch, a fawn & a doe, springing across the prettiest
part of the road, (Bess didn't see the
buck) Mary was heart broken. I rowed
most of the way home & good pull) rough & cold
Mr. & Mrs. Curke & Miss
Nestler had arrived. "Fire &c.
