MEMORANDA
Apr. 1 1910
FEA's schemes have worked!
J.G. has been having an awful time. Bought out the Auto Co - a forlorn hope we all knew was N.Y. - a year ago because someone (bankers) had an option & he hoped to sell to them. Option up much 15. They did not buy as we did not make good & Anderson "queered" us. He wanted it extended for "other parties". Kept J.G. in N.Y. by an appointment which he didn't keep - but Golla Condory "amused him" & went to St. Louis & mussed up our negotiations their by bargaining for a preposterous option!
Apr. 9 1911 I was showing Chan the Oliver Herford "Crocodile" & he said "We've got a sun-dial!" Henry was very much tickled with the [illegible] holding up an umbrella & both were much interested in Ever Eve & the serpent. Henry said "It's Summer isn't it?" (because of her lack of costume.) They liked the Yak - being barbered - too. July 10 1912 The boys were down today. Henry said "It's wrong to shoot animals" Chan!" But to eat them?" Henry: "No, It's wrong to shoot them to eat" Chan. "But I like meat to eat!" Henry: "Well, you musn't shoot them" Chan: "Must you wait till they die?" ___ !
(of other engines pumped. Some of them for 45 hours steady - to empty downtown cellars. No fires or lights in many buildings - 2 boats on Front St. got 25¢ fares. A boy was swept away in a canoe from GV Park on Sat. night at the park it was up to Brooks & Elmwood Ave. & the bridge in danger- up nearly to the roofs of the canoe - club house - no Erie or Pa. trains running. Lehigh [illegible], but [] was higher than tracks!
Sept 9 (8/30 - 9/12) 1914 7th Lake) Met Bess & Mary (Dr. Barlan
had been there 2 weeks with Mary) Ruth K. Mrs. Sargis of Syracuse, a [illegible] & a reader &c. (Married about a year) Mr. & Mrs. Sidney Adams. (She was - Miss Fish, a stenog in the N.Y. Life,Cutler Bldg & their charming 4-yr old Betty. (over)
