Tues 1913 A sad day - especially p.m. Tired & nervous and used up. Happened to lunch with Bess & Mary. Mary much better. Eugeniewas in. JBa with Chamber of Commerce Com. Went out to Florence's at 5 with violets & the "Pines of Lory" - She goes to Saranac tomorrow. Worked most of the evening & read old journals. Wed 1914 Got a nice love letter from Irene with "A mood of Autumn" in it. Lunched late with Florence & tried to cheer her up about Monday (E. spent the eve. with I & didn't let her know). We went to the Powers & heard Mr. Powys on "King Lear" later. Fine. Then I went home & later owed Mother at the Mechanics and the Stricklands for the Hallowe'en party & sale (supper too)
