358DECEMBER 15 Thurs 1910 Chan's birthday. He's "free" Henrysays. They both came down to Gran'ma's to dinner with Nana and it snowed very hard and they had to wade going home - a beautiful storm. CFin N.Y with the plans & spec. Tonight Meta stayed at Amelie's & I dev- eloped pictures and cross-stitched &c. till late. Fri 1911 Chan's real birthday. Nicer. Lunched with Bess & Mary at Sibley's tonight went to Nan's & had my hair done before supper. Hannecan's auto came & got Mother & me before nine & we went up for the boys & Nana & when we found the train very full took the stateroom. Mr. Swales called in us. He sails for England in the Lusitania tomorrow. They boy slept fine till towards morning. Sun 1912 Nice mild morning. After our late breakfast Lydia
 & I started for a walk. Stopped at Cro'nest. Channie happy - gave him a little telephone which pleased him mightily. Lydia
 made corn muffins (as Frances was gone!) [illegible] Dear Nanalooks badly. Walked thro' Highland Ave. the Gilmore house. Cobb's Hill &c. Home (with the Dally's in car) about two. Then dinner & a lazy afternoon & evening. Hope dear Claude & Hemeny are enjoying "their selves" Mon 1913 Our Chan is 6 today! He was delighted with his horse & stable & wagon that unhitched a nice bright day. Shopped &c. Tues.1914

Lunched with Edith J. tonight day Florence says E.A.S. 'phoned her and is coming up tomorrow. I shopped with Irene tonight. It is cold. Mother read aloud this evening. Florence & Irene each confide their side of the "loves of E.A.S.". It's very exciting & interesting.
