222AUGUST 1 Mon 1910 Claude's birthday & a hard day for all of
us. Father
suffers & we can do nothing & Mother was there all day. At noon I came home & fed the
cats &c. (Very busy at the office) & went up at night to see
Father. It was pouring then and later. We all went to Claude's to supper - as Kath
was there & Claude, Letitia & I went to Charlotte to the boat with her &
Jo. - on their way to [illegible]. I was very very tired.
Slept in the den (mostly now)
Tues 1911 Our boy's birthday (in
Boston) wrote to him. This pm went home early &
Mother
& I packed up a black chocolate cake & went to "Camp
Merrimac" to a perfect "Perfects"
picnic at 5. Everyone there & later Gertrude
came via the R.W. & O. train from Oswego &
Bess, Mary &
Captain from their pier tent. Mrs. Baker & Mrs.
Mc.Arthur were there too - a lovely time.
Thurs 1912
A beautiful cold morning.
The lake all quiet & full of reflections. Took a sun bath on the
rocks & read awhile & clean walked up the only road (to Cedar
Lake) a mile and a half or so. It was full of birds & the
air was soft & the sky gray & pretty - meet the children -
Adrian & Henry coming back &
went to meet the others in the lane. Louise
, Esther,
Rob & Edna. Then wrote to the
Dear Boy & sewed a little. Was
by the fire in the "ball room" seeing Mr. & Mrs
[illegible] home reading most of the p.m. The to go rowing with
Miss Fisher but it rained. Finished the girls in bathing.
Fri 1913
Nice day but still warm. Went
to Claude's birthday dinner - on the
veranda. "Sue" looked lovely in gray silk. She
& the boys brought in 47 candles plate by plate, afterward - Mr. Stern
called (after Mrs. Ruliffson &
Adeline
) took us home in his electric.
