Dark in a.m. but bright later.
Went down to Mrs. Baker's at noon &
took some pictures of hers for Lura's
Xmas. Went to "The Fascinating Widow" in the
p.m. A man in a woman's part - quite wonderful. Met Nan Moore at the 6:28 train and after supper
she & I went down town to Sibley's, Hyde's, Duffy's. Scrantom's. Whittles
& also called at our office in the Cutler
Bldg, and saw Mr. Faught &c. Talked
awhile later.
Sun 1911
Cold & stormy but not as
bad as yesterday.
Helen Sayles came after 12. (I read &c. in a.m.)
& we visited all the p.m. & evening. Except I washed the chicken -
dinner dishes in the p.m. & the children & Letitia were down. Sat up late by the nine grate fire -
talking - (about Texas &c. &c.)
Tues 1912
Lovely day. Mother went to the YWCA donation
at Masonic Temple. I went over at noon & dined with her
(Mrs. Arthur Flack waited on us) I got home first at
night! Was tired & went to bed early.
Wed 1913.
"Soggy" & rainy. Invited
Cad Goler's
to lunch and gave her a lot of her old letters to me. She told me
Ed Page & his wife (Mary
Benham) live near Frances -
(Cad niece fancied him.) & no
one likes him now! Had a night home at last & read aloud.
Claude's new book "A Primer of Higher
Space" is out.
Thurs 1914
As we went to bed at 2 we
were very late up.
C.U. came over into mine & made love
to me! Bath &. & breakfast in Palm room then to
Peacock & Marie Antonette. It was pouring. We taxi-ed to Empire for tickets
& then to
Haas' - 56th St. to see about a tailor suit & try on.
Bus to
Vantine's where C.U. spent
about $100 (a topaz ring for me and an amethyst pin for Mother. Dress & 'phone &c. & helped
C.U. & met Hampden at 6 I for a lovely dinner ($14.80) in
Grille rooms, He gave me a lovely toast - the dear! We (C.U. really) sent a lovely topaz pendant to
Mab
. Took a taxi to see GiletteDoro &
Bates in "Diplomacy" & then another to
Sherry's for pate de fois grass & aspec & Gorgonzola,
Sherry &c. Much talk - sleep late.
