271SEPTEMBER 19 Mon. 1910 The men All but Bob (Will, Donald
, Henry
& Mr. K.) went off on a deer hunt at 5. We ate breakfast at 8 & they came before we had finished. Then I took pictures. Henry
eating pancakes (!) & group around the fire. A dark gloomy day - but a big fire inside. After dinner went for a row around the lake, &c. and later went up the trail to meet the men who were deer - hunting. It was quite exciting. We all gathered balsam before dinner & made pillows for Mr. Kinly & Hattie
(the cook) after supper (a late one) we all played "Sally Ann" till about nine. Then to bed. The boys played ball a good deal of the day. I wrote a letter.
Tues. 1911 Nice morning but rained in p.m. I wrote a tremendously long letter to W.H. for Claude, who met "C.J." at the train tonight & went to Syracuse with him. Khedkar lectured, meanwhile. Tinker sits in my lap silent on the time. Thurs. 1912 Still lovely weather. Very busy with little time to think much but business. Mother likes Miss Fox so much. She wants breakfast! Fri. 1913 Lovely day. Came down to Duffy's and lunched with Edith at noon and just read and rested &c. at night. Wrote to Lydia
. The lovely autumn weather is here. Lura & Mrs. Baker are going to move to go Kenilworth Terrace Oct 1.
Sat. 1914 Fine day. Rode home with Miss Upton's [illegible] - (7 glasses!) This p.m. went to Durand- Eastman park & had a supper on the shore with "Irene" and Florence. The lake was lovely & so were the girls. We made toast & tea & had other things. Sat around till real dark & walked the dark road up to the Sea Breeze car. Nice time!
