207JULY 17Bess's birthday Sun 1910 A
glorious day as to weather. Went to the Hospital (with double poppies) at 10:30. & found
Father first rate - to set up in a
chair this p.m. Went to the drugstore for grape juice about one and met
Reg. & Carol Flack & had quite a chat. Came home for 2 o'clock
dinner. Went to Miss Wetmore's to call with
Mother (she was in the Mt.) & then
KEB. went to Hospital & I to Cro'nest. Jo &
Claude out on the lawn with the
children. They were dears. Finally Claude took them off to the
Park & Jo
& I chatted. Finished "The Rosary" - a beautiful love story.
Mon 1911 Cooler and rain at last! Edith
Andrews (back from her 6 week trip) phoned me & came home
with me for all night. Marguerite came
over this eve.
Edith came in my bed in the den & told
me about how her Father had "queered"
her engagement. Had bad headache.
Wed 1912
Still nice weather. Finishing
Carnahan's specifications. Shopped. Sewed some tonight
& played flinch & looked over old
photographs.
Mother getting ready to go to the Hill
(for the last time - It is sold - [illegible] Oct 1st!)
Thur 1913
Awfully tired today
doing LeRoy specifications which are all promised
tomorrow (I will go, too.)
Fri 1914
Muggy. Had Mart Siemer to lunch (she was in yesterday
with Phyllis
- who is lovely) Mrs. Drury went home. The
"Nichols girls" called tonight. Later I "packed".
This has been a very hot week - & muggy.
Finished Buell spec
