MEMORANDA
May 29 1910. Sun. Glenn Curtiss (32 yrs. old - the Hammonds - postman) flew down the Hudson from Albany to N.Y. in his Aero-plane - 137 miles in 2 hrs. 32 min (at 54.06 m. per hour) won a $10000 prize offered by the N.Y. world. Must have passed over Ober Cliffe about 8 o'clock He did. In [illegible] 15 minutes. Alice wrote about it. May 28 & May 31 Mother & I saw the comet - getting very dim compared with the one in 1882? May 16th 1911 "The Servant in the House" The turmoil ceased when you came in. Your presence quelled the raging din. Hate, anger, envy, - all were still. Imprisoned by your mighty will. And peace and quiet reigned supreme. Inspired by your eyes soft gleam. Your Presence - sweet and wonderful. Filled every heart o'er flowing full. M.B. [illegible] 7/11 Oct. 20 1912 of "Inspiration Point" "Thro' rock- bound battlements flowed down the Genesee" & such trees!! The wood path was pinks purples & browns. It was heavenly coming back we met RH Salmons &[illegible] little girlss - nice people at the house. Dr. & Mrs. Hoyt drove up as we came into Glen Iris - cordial & enthusiastic! Then a good supper in the cozy house - a glimpse of the gorge (2nd fall) by moonlight and in drive to Portageville. July 2 1913. Our Ojibway Party were Mr. & Mrs. Edw G.[illegible] [illegible]Oxford Mr. & Mrs. William De Graff, Mr. & Mrs. Wm L. Perrin69 Avondale Mrs. Margaret Perrin, Miss Plummer 163 Baryon

Nov. 16 to 22 1914. A wonderful time for me with Carolyn Upton in New York "our Venus time" She says she paid for everything & heaped me with presents & tried to more - was the soul of generosity - and when we came almost to parting she put her arms around me & gave me a great hug and a kiss & thanked me for the good time I had given her! I find my heart growing more & more tender toward the dear lady!
