242AUGUST 21 Sun 1910
A beautiful day. Mother dear was sick all day - dizzy - &
stayed in bed and (toward night) on the Den couch. I got the meals
&c. Home all day. Amelie was up in
the morning and invited us to Troutberg - talked about
her little house &c. Marguerite was
over a long time & Edith called. I
read "The Chaperon" and fussed. Hot in the sun.
Frieda, Leslie
& Arno & Tessie went driving
Mon 1911
Woke up in lovely
bay of Quinte & had breakfast about at
Belleville. The day was fine & I "embroidered"
& read some & talked & sat on deck of course - people rather funny
- nice stateroom & good meals. Fun figuring "who's who". Man caught a fish
from the dock at Deseronto. We took a (hot) walk at
Pieton & I took one (a short one) alone at
Kingston & then sat on upper deck with me.
Lovely evening among the Islands.
Gananoque before dark, lights of Summer
Land & Alex Bay about bed time.
Search light once - at least one bride & groom & a couple we can't
figure out - with another man. Lovely falling stars & others. Temperature
OK.
Wed 1912 Miss MacDonald got back from her long vacation late
tonight.
Thurs. 1913
Another fine day. Played
croquet after breakfast & had a nice walk with
Mr. Stone to the P.O. Box. (we rowed there yesterday)
& a talk & after dinner another in the swing - with ranch pictures
&c. &c. Then the bluff. The (colts) grays moved the bath house. Then
a bath in ice cold water and a sun bath on the
shore. (Felt good) In eve. Mr. S.
started for a row but it was too rough. So he came back &
entertained us with
France & San Francisco. &c.
Fri 1914
Rain early but cleared off
later. Lunched with Bess &
Miss Huber (?). A letter from Mary
who's got me a room. Went to Gordon
tonight & then supper down town.
