230AUGUST 9mem.
Tues 1910 Warmer today. The Willards telephoned
they were coming and Alfred &
Marian Wilkinson are and Aunt Melissa did come. It was good to see
her. Was home all day - a good many calls - especially neighbors. They
brought dear Father's body this morning and
many flowers during the day. He looks so natural to me. Had a nice visit
with Auntie. Mary
was here all day and yesterday and very kind - as is
everybody. Mary
comes tomorrow too.
Wed 1911
A fine cool morning! Trudy went (to the
Islands) this a.m. I lunched with
Bess & Mame & saw their pictures & Duazyupleze
&c. Shopped some. Mr. Ward came in with the sketch
for his "Manson" picture & gave CF.
a lovely photo of
W.H. which he gave to me! Sewed &c
this evening & wrote & figured late!
Fri 1912
Muggy day & some rain.
Wrote Synopses of Claude's 3 lectures.
Went to lunch at the Club with him (soft shell crabs!)
& he told me more about the dear lady's family. He goes to
Green acre tonight. Meeting
Hampdens in Spring field in the
morning. At 5, went out & saw Alice's baby Susan Louise Galloway - a pretty
fat little curly red head. Held her some time. Got my negatives (and)
made some prints. Wrote to G.G.flinch &c. tonight!
Sat 1913
Muggy dark day. Lunched with
Trudy
at Sibley's & then we went to the
Gordon Theatre
for a couple of hours - to the office to phone
Mother& there to Durand.
Eastman Park & a walk around the woods & a rest
on the bluff. Home to a late supper of beans - which tasted good!
Sun 1914 Still boiling. Ruth
came up to our simple dinner & then she & I went to
Manitou & called on Miss Hecock
at the Vacation House. Found a
nice cold breeze - sat on the beach awhile - had ginger ale & finally
got home about 8 or so, to supper.
