274SEPTEMBER 22 Thurs. 1910
Thermometer 35° this
morning. Had roaring fire for breakfast & the pancakes & bacon
disappeared very quick. A beautiful clear day - at nine we all got in the
launch I went to McChessney's & from there ElsieMrs. J. E. & I walked down to the lower camps (about
3 or 4 miles) thro' beautiful woods.
Will & R. met us
& we fixed the propeller & took pictures. Home at 11:30. Lots &
lots of color in the woods now. Right after our big dinner
Mrs. Reynolds (of my) Frank McChesney,
Don Lewis, Roy Fowler & a
Mr.Warren
came over in the launch from McChesney's & the boys,
Edith,Will,
Rob & I climbed [illegible]mountain. We were
about 50 mins. going up & nearly 2 hours gone. Mrs.
R. sketched the reservoir, meanwhile. we sat by the fire &
after they went I read in the hammock, but it was cold. The men went hunting
& Roy Fowler saw 3 deer & he just came in this
noon! Tonight we read & played Canfield. Misty moonlight.
Fri. 1911
Nice day. Worked hard &
so did CFB. Went out to Mrs
[illegible] tonight & got my dress material she's had 7 months!
Ripped & pasted in eve. Took a bath &c. very sleepy & tired. Poor
little Tinker seems worse. I don't believe he's going to
get well.
Sun. 1912
A lovely day weather-wise but
felt dreadfully. Henry was naughty
& had to be sent to bed (& I don't think it was his fault either!) & I went to the office and
worked & later to Lura's to supper.
A good one of course - and a visit. Home about 9:45.
Mon. 1913
Almost cleared this a.m. but
a hard shower with hail this p.m. Went to Gordon &
saw "Tess of the D'Uberville" Mrs. Fiske) tonight.
When I got home made a furnace and a grate fire. It had turned cold.
Then did cash accounts and co on.
Tues. 1914
A hot day - 90° - like
Summer. Lunched at McCurdy's for a change. At
night Jim took me out to
Penfield & we picked up Mother &
Mrs. Backus
