317NOVEMBER 4 Fri 1910
Dark day. Lunched at
Seel's. Saw Miss Hill
& told her about Leon Sayles' death &c. &
then went to the Flower show which was lovely. Bess & Mary
there. We had tea in "Japan" & listened to the orchestra and band a
little. To Hippo. to- night. Then to the
Manhattan for a bite & our to Miss
Limericks to try on my dress. Mother
went to Committee (church) meeting & we found Peter
(long gone) in the top of one of Behn's
apple trees!
Sat 1911
Nice day. Worked hard all a.m. Lunched with Bess
& Mame after 1. They had a chapter
of woes. Their old Auntie dying at their house &c. Went back to the
office a little while & then out to Alice
Galloway's (to Kingston St.) for a long call.
Saw Clarence
a little while & all her nice housekeeping things. After supper went
to Marguerites. She & Catty
Edwards were just staying to see Maude Adams
in "Chanticleer". Read & sewed tonight.
Mon 1912
Busy Monday The usual
quiet evening at home, reading aloud &c.
Mother tired tonight.
Tues 1913.
Dull day, but not cold -
Election. Had Ruth Hubbard to lunch & a nice time.
She's been up to Waterford & helped Alice
move into lovely old "Stanwood Hill" - the new house. Later
went to the Bay. Flack's's cottage -
to a Cutler picnic. The "doings" mostly over
& I didn't stay long. Reg wasn't there
& a crowd I didn't care much for. ("Esther" &c.)
Ruth Bridgeman coming home!
Wed 1914.
Not a very nice day. Ate with
Lura,
Marie & then captain alone & went with Jim to see the Cadallac - 8 tonight and then to
the Victoria. Home to eat and sew.
