Cloudy am & rained p.m.
& night which prevented our going to Geneva to
Rd. Brons roservatory to see the comet (Jas. Arnold's party) It was circus Day &
we saw the parade this a.m. Chan, Henry &
Jessie Tappan were down and Claude sent them house in a taxi. I stopped at the
Hippo tonight. Read later - Lunched with Mary D - just back from
Strattons (Phila) today at Sibley's. "The time of her life".
Bess expected tonight or tomorrow nice visit
with Mary.

Cool & lovely.
Transplanted wies were "strung" today. Amelie invited me to dinner but I didn't go - saw Marguerite, Meta &c. & read
Mc Clure aloud to Mother -
Claude saw
Walter H. Make up of "Stephen
Ghent" (Great Divide) Matinee - he was very funny
about playing this - everyone idolizes him in it & he makes fun of
it. Am sleeping in den now most of the time. Made blue pts.

Heavy thunder storm early this
morning & that cooled the air some - but was hot all day. Came down
with Marguerite
and lunched with her & Miss Mc Sweeny
this noon at Sibley's & looked at
dresses.
Busy very. Gilmore
up tonight. Wrote a "story" tonight (for the Herald Competition -
N.Y.)
Claude went to
Canandaigua.

Finished Michael Stern's specifications this p.m. (His
friend Hoyle is here with Jim's "unknown
Lady" Came home and dressed & went to Sibley's to meet Bess &
Mary & "Ida"

We had jolly dinner and then went to the Lyceum to "Green Stockings" and a Girl - very
good indeed, Anne Meredith sweet.

Nellie Mac & I went to
Webster at 11:10 to Mother Wright's to dinner (good of course) took a little walk.
Sat under the trees & came home at 4:10 to rest & read - apple
blossoms in their prime, but pop-corny this year!
