Apr. 26. Mon. In a whirl this a.m. J.G. left for N.Y. on the Empire. Harper
back & apparently very happy. Mother's friend "Althea" & her daughter were here to lunch. She looked so old (tho' a bit younger than Mother.) Dear Mother looked young & blooming beside her. Alicia 'phoned. She has been home sick for a week. Apr. 27-28 Tues. & Wed. Dark day. Pouring rain tonight. Busy. Wednesday better, but cold. Mother took me to the Musical Festival - which was fine. The Children's Crusade - male & female chorus orchestra, children (200) &c. &c. J.W. is Pres. Apr. 29 Thurs. Father's 77th birthday. Snow. Thunder in the night. Horrid weather. Very late spring. Apr. 30 Fri. Cold morning but warm later. Went to Bess & Mary's office to lunch. Took a load of rubbers (their S.S. class) Tonight they & Lura & Edith & I went to Mary's & had a nice time - coffee, puzzles &c. like "Perfects". May 1. Sat. It rained all night & was cold & clammy today but cleared in p.m. Chat, Lura, Kate & I went to Duffy's last Dossenbach dinner. They had chimes &c. very nice - we had a really jolly time. Then went down & Chat tried on hats & Kate tried on dresses & we went to Scrantom's library &c. &c. May 2. Sun. Snow & cold today so Father & I couldn't take our "May walk" - went to Cro'nest right after dinner & staid till nearly six. The babies were lovely. Adeline
was there, some of the time, & later George Humphrey (poor fellow) Fixed photo, books. The dear babies are a joy.
