Dec. 19. Thurs. Dear Henny-penny ate breakfast with us. Then Jo went to see the family off - I to return Amelie's vases, and then to the office. It was hard - after supper I came up - and so did Jim - and were there when Claude and Harry came, about nine. Claude was al- most happy and so satisfied with what had been done for dear Char- but both boys looked pale and tired. Jim came down home with me. Dec. 20 Fri. I forgot to say that everyone was so kind yesterday - and today - J.W. & I had a long good talk. Today I was pretty well used up and so was Jim. I went to Cro'nest just a few minutes - but I think it did cheer them up - Harry & Jo and dear Claude. Was very tired. Dec 21 Sat. It seems as tho' it got harder instead of easier. Tonight I couldn't bear to go home. The Flacks took me Christmas shopping - I did up packages & wrote letters tonight. Dec. 22 Sun. A lovely sunny day. Tried twice to get a kitten for Claude at Mrs. Brace's but she wasn't in. Claude came this noon, with Carl, and we had a nice talk - about his plans. Mrs. Sloan, Mrs. Bacon, Mrs. Hoyt, & Mrs. Taylor are trying to help him to a nurse for the babies - both of them - Charlotte and Helen Davis called - went to Cro'nest at five & Geo Humphrey came just behind me - Henry knew me, I know.
