Aug. 4 Wed Went to Lura's & Chattie's "Perfect Party" tonight - no Rogers to come, however but "J-tighton" (Kittie Crichton) as Frances calls her, was there, just home from Seattle. Matie told funny Stories of Oliver & Hobart who are very bright children & we had some of Mrs B's delicious ice cream and cake & coffee & a good visit as old. Aug. 5 Thurs Mother & I expected to go to Syracuse to Mrs. W's funeral today - but I got a special from Claude saying that the dear body was to be cremated at Jersey City. Marguerite got home with a lot of good "brownie" pictures & Mrs. Boyce came. Aug. 6 Fri A lovely day. Came home today, tho' it was "Friday" (sweeping day) Tonight, the two "Macs" Mary & Nellie, Lura, Chat & I went to Summerville to dinner - up stairs in the pavilion - a very nice fish & chicken dinner. I was full for I had eaten almost no lunch. Later we went over to Ontario Beach, bought Japanese things & had our palms read by a very intelligent sort of Woman, who told us load of interesting things. She said I had inherited absolutely no chronic [illegible] or ill health of any kind - I'd live to be 80 or so - but after - 72 would not have first rate health - would have "something" (so would Chattie) Was entirely competent to run a business. Might have been an actress. Had a keen appreciation.
